Our First Days with Edge

Our first days living on Edge have been a readjustment to normal, everyday life, for sure. You’d expect that for a mission trip, yes, but this is even an adjustment to what I’ve come to expect from normal, everyday missions!

I’ve heard many people on our 11 person team express (myself included) that there’s too many good things happening to even be able to write them all down! There has already been such restoration and development in our team as individuals and as a working group. This is born through the challenges of living life in such close community, and the daily searching and stepping out into what God created us to be.

Here in Altea with EDGE Project, there are studies and group times every morning and many evenings that help us to become better, more clear-headed disciples so that we may work out of an overflow in the city. The afternoons consist of our ministry excursions around the city

We arrived into Altea on Sunday morning after staying the night in Alacante. The devotions Steven led that morning centered on Isaiah 52 and 55. We had a welcome meeting with the staff and settled into our 1880s house, built into the rock of the city!

On our first Monday morning, all of EDGE had a group time focusing on Identity. Then we split up to cook for each other, clean, or serve by prepping houses for a fresh coat of paint. This was our team's most difficult since it was a busy day and we were experiencing tiredness and headaches. Although, a night of worship that evening was particularly beautiful.

On Tuesday we studied the book of Mark at an old guard tower, shopped for the week at a farmers market, and are starting to work on our personal art projects around the city, beginning to step out to what God is calling us to here. Because it is a week of focusing inwardly, I’ve encouraged our team to pray and see what it may be that God may be calling us to. We are now beginning to step into that. Ill let some others tell the stories of what we have encountered on this week’s future posts.
